If you know a little about American cars you may well have heard of the AMC Pacer, funnily enough they didn't do too well on this side of the pond, for a host of reasons. However there is one particular Pacer that stands out from its shitty brethren: the Merthmobile.

The Merthmobile was the car owned by the cult TV host, Garth Algar. Garth co-hosted a TV show with Wayne Campbell out of a basement in Aurora, Illinois. It wasn't just its owner however that made this particular beater special.

The main thing that set the Merthmobile apart was fire! Or at least the illusion of fire, painted onto the side behind the front wheels, it's a well-known fact that decals like that make a car faster.

The standard Pacer underneath the speed-enhancing flames, was a 1976 model with an automatic transmission and most likely the straight six motor. However this was not standard Pacer, Mr. Algar made a few additions.

As well as the cassette player (perfect for playing 'Bohemian Rhapsody' in particular) Garth added a CD player, mounted on top of the dash ... pretty high tech for 1993. Also mounted into the roof above the front passengers was a liquorice dispenser, the best feature by far.

Not only was the Merthmobile enhanced to be the best Pacer around (not that that was necessarily difficult) but it could also carry up to five metal-heads at any one time, hair and all.

So if you're on the lookout for a speed-enhanced, metal-head-hauling, sweet-dispensing AMC Pacer, we've got the car for you. To top it off it also comes with a Wayne's 'no honk guarantee.'
