A Spitfire on Steroids - The Jedi Interceptor

Formally known as the Eta-2 Actis-Class light interceptor, the Jedi Interceptor was a piece of design to marvel at...shame it couldn't stop a nutter with a melty face and a hot sword. Used extensively during the Clone Wars, this manoeuvrable little fighter was a crucial part of the Jedi Order's arsenal.
The Eta-2 was designed to replace the much larger Delta-7 Aethersprite. The Interceptor had more fire-power and a higher top speed, despite its diminished size, at just 5.47m long. It came packing with two laser cannons and two ion cannons.
The increased speed came from the twin ion engines, giving the Interceptor a top speed of almost 1000mph. Just in case the heat of combat became too much for the little fighter, a pair of S-foils on each wing would open and vent excess heat.
Courtesy of the tiny cabin the Jedi Interceptor did only have space for one, but on the upside there's a slot to plonk an astromech so it can beep in your ear the whole time. In order to keep the size to a minimum the Eta-2 also, as with previous Jedi fighters, lacked hyperspace capabilities and had to rely on an external hyperspace ring.
Fame came to this particular Jedi Fighter when they were piloted by Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, just before the fall of the Republic at the Battle of Coruscant...shortly before Anakin suffered...an episode, and may have fallen saber first into some Jedi younglings...several times.
Unpleasant associations aside the Eta-2 Jedi Interceptor was a brilliantly manoeuvrable little fighter and well worth considering for anyone in the mood for a touch of inter-stellar dog-fighting.
